David M Hurst
David M Hurst, age 86 of Salem, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Salem Crossing. Born July 19, 1937 in Borden, he was the son of the late Cecil and Ellen Hurst.
David served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, was a member of the VFW, and was a Sprint Car enthusiast for over 60 years.
David is survived by his 4 children: Kimberly Hurst Berry (David Butts), Daniel Hurst (Tammy Floyd Hurst), Melanie Hurst (Twyla Edinburgh), and John Hurst (Jeanetta Voss); 1 brother, William Hurst; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hurst; his parents, Cecil & Ellen Hurst; 3 sisters: Lois Balentine, Norma Knuckles, and Merylin Simpkins; and a grandson, Jeremy Hurst.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home – Salem Chapel, with burial to follow at Highland Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
