Master Trooper Mark LaMaster has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant by Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter and participated in a pinning ceremony in Indianapolis on Thursday. In his new role, Sergeant LaMaster will serve within the training division and will assist in the implementation and instruction of the department’s new Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) Training.
Sergeant LaMaster is a 17-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. He is a 1992 graduate of Scottsburg High School and attended Indiana University Southeast. He graduated from the 67thIndiana State Police Recruit Academy in 2007 and was assigned to the Sellersburg Post.
During his time on the department, Sergeant LaMaster has accepted several significant roles including Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, CPR/Tactical Medic Instructor, and Speed Timing Device Instructor. LaMaster was also a member of the Clandestine Laboratory Investigation Team and a Field Training Officer for new troopers assigned to the Sellersburg Post. During his time at the Sellersburg Post, Sergeant LaMaster was assigned to the Tactical Intervention Platoon and served as the area Marijuana Eradication Coordinator for seven years. His most recent duty was as an integral member of the Sellersburg Post All Crimes Policing Squad which emphasized criminal interdiction and investigation.
Sergeant LaMaster is a lifelong resident of Scott County and resides in Scottsburg, Indiana. Please join us in congratulating Sergeant LaMaster on his recent promotion.
