Members of Salem's Urban Beautification Committee recently welcomed a new business to Westminster Center. Salem Mortgage Inc., specializing in all types of mortgage lending. 

David Egger attended the Indiana State University summer Honors Program in Terre Haute. Egger earned two semester hours of credit.

Charlie Johnson of Campbellsburg will be playing his favorite gospel songs on his harmonica before an audience of thousands at the Christian Ministerial Association annual meeting in Tennessee. 

Good ole' boys and gals will have an opportunity to meet two stars of the long running television show "The Dukes of Hazard." Sonny Shroyer, who portrayed "Enos" and James Best, who played sheriff "Roscoe P. Coltrane" will be on hand at the Salem Speedway. 

Students at Ball State University were recently named to the 1999 spring semester Dean's List. Students ont he Dean's list have earned at least a 3.5 gpa on a 4.0 scale while enrolled for at least 12credit hours. Included on the list were Tammie Stines and Tami Stone, both of Salem.

Kelly Hoar was crowned 1999 fair queen by last year's queen, Dawn Green.
